Alfons Cuppens found 2014 population data for the districts and cities of Tajikistan, and prepared a helpful table, which I have used as the basis of the one below. His main source was [2] (see the Regions of Tajikistan page). It agrees, generally speaking, with the divisions shown on the clickable map at the President of Tajikistan's page. This list shows Tajikistan divided into 58 districts and 17 cities.

The 2014 table combines the four raions of Dushanbe region into a single entity, Dushanbe city. It also changes the status of the hukumats to cities. The only change in HASC codes is for Dushanbe. Note that some of the Russian names are phonetically similar to the Tajik names, but others, including Leninskij, Moskovskij, and Sovetskij, were replaced with names of local origin.
